Push lawn sweepers are great tools to use when you want to clean up leaves, sticks, and for some sweeper models, pine needles and pine cones. There are many products out there which you may want to consider. We’ll look at a few of the push lawn sweepers that we’ve reviewed here at BestLawnSweeper.

Now, when thinking about make a lawn sweeper purchase, there’s a few things you’ll want to take into consideration. Firstly, you’ll want to have proper expectations. Knowing what to expect from your purchase greatly increased the odds that you’ll be happy with you lawn sweeper purchase. There are several sweeper models out there right around the $100 range.

The first product we’ve reviewed is the Precision Products 26-Inch Push Lawn Sweeper. This sweeper retails for around $100 or less on most online shopping resources. The general reviews of this product are pretty good considering its low price point. It has a 26’ hopper with 6 cubic feet of capacity so it will fill up fast but should still save you lots of time versus traditional raking. The solid steel construction and aluminum wheels are fairly well constructed and give it a more durable feel than some of the other cheaper lawn sweepers out there.

As with most lawn or yard sweeper, this one does require assembly. Most feel the assembly is fairly straight forward and had it put together within a few minutes. The gear ration (5 to 1) allows it to be moved across the lawn fairly easily to create the torque needed to keep the brushes spinning at a nice pace to adequately sweep up leaves and debris. As we mentioned, the 6 cubic foot hopper will fill up quick, but that does equal approximately twelve loads to fill a 30 gal collapsible lawn baskets. So you’re going to be dumping a lot but it still beats raking by hand.

Most of the negative reviews about this push sweeper were in regards to the support received from the products manufacturer, Precision Products. Some reported that when the sweeper arrived it was missing some parts and that emails for support went unanswered. However, we think it would be worth while to give this push sweeper a try. When looking at the design of other push lawn sweepers, the simplicity of the Precision sweeper makes it attractive as there are less parts and pieces that could eventually wear and break apart.

All-in-all, this product seems to perform up to its stated purpose and should satisfy most yard sweeping jobs.

The Yardwise 25″ Sweep It Push Yard Sweeper can be found for under $100 making it one of (if not) the cheapest sweeper out there. However, with that price you also sacrifice some things. First lets look at the selling features or specifications. This one has pretty much the same features as most others; adjustable height adjustment, 30 gallon basket (says it lifts off easily), and it folds down for storage. We must point out that the folding feature is nice as many of these sweepers can take up a lot of storage space in your garage or shed.

As with the price, the main complaint about this sweeper is it seems cheaply made; but what do you expect for under $100 (around $99 so actually it won’t be under $100 once you pay for shipping or gas if you find one locally). You really do get what you pay for, but for a quick yard sweep up and some light stuff, this sweeper may work fine.

This sweeper has a lot of plastic on it, which was a common complaint and as with the majority of others, it requires some assembly. Even with the large amounts of plastic however, most people did feel this push sweeper lived up to its claims and were overall happy with its performance. And always remember that almost none of these sweepers will get your lawn looking like vacuumed carpet. And most work best when the lawn is evenly cut, void of large ruts and hills, and the debris is not wet.

When looking for a yard sweeper, the main thing is to really think about your expectations. What do you want to accomplish? Most yard sweepers, obviously are used for simply sweeping leaves. Which they work great for by the way.

As do most people, I dislike raking leaves. I guess “dislike” would be a kind word. Don’t get me wrong, I love working in the yard, but I also like being as productive as I can, and spending hours raking leaves doesn’t seem too productive to me when there’s better tools and equipment out there for the job.

Enter the Yard Sweeper! These things are great, you can either get a manual or push model, such as one of our favorites, the Precision Products 26-Inch Push Lawn Sweeper, or one of the bigger boys to tow behind a garden tractor. For a tow behind, one we see getting the best reviews is the Agri-Fab 38-Inch Tow Lawn Sweeper which lists for around $270. Now, with that said, the Agri-Fab is only our favorite here because that’s the most popular model and one where we found the most reviews. We also have a full page review on the Parker Suburbanite – 36in. Wide Tow Behind Lawn Sweeper. This guy is really nice but lists up around $900. Which is a lot for even the serious lawn enthusiast?

The more expensive models such as the Parker Suburbanite is touted to be more for turf professionals and those who take care of turf surfaces for a living. And yes, like anything else, you do get what you pay for. But lets look at a couple important factors when looking to purchase a yard sweeper or lawn sweeper.

First, what do you expect it to do? Meaning, do you expect it to pick up only leaves? If that is the case, then most of the push models (and most certainly the more expensive ones) will do just that. However, it is good to note that they do best when sweeping up dry leaves. That is pretty generally across the board on all lawn sweepers.

If you’re looking for something a little more industrial, and you have a lawn tractor or ATV to pull the sweeper, then some of the more expensive ones may be your better choice. Most sweepers in both categories will pick up small sticks and even some smaller pine cones and maybe pine needles. And always consider storage space available also and keep in mind that most yard sweepers work best on mostly even lawns.

Whatever model you choose, make sure you know what to expect. Many lawn and yard equipment like sweepers are made for certain jobs. This Precision Products push lawn sweeper is another one of the cheaper options in the push category. Priced just over the Yardwise 25”, this sweeper gives just one more inch of width. Most feel this product is a constructed with a little more sturdy material than other bands in this low-end push category. Constructed with a power-coated steel tube frame resulting in better durability then others. Most felt this product performed well under most circumstances.
With 6 cubic feet of hamper capacity, this lawn sweeper will fill up fast, but still makes quick work of most yard debris and lawn trimmings. Featuring two 8 inch pneumatic aluminum wheels, which is a feature not often found on these less expensive models.

Easy to assemble (some assembly required) and has the standard height adjustment options. One nice feature is the 5 to 1 gear ratio which eases the amount of effort and greater torque to keep the brushes moving. The 6 cubic feet capacity hamper equals out to about twelve fills or sweeper-loads to fill one of those 30 gallon collapsible lawn buckets. As with most push lawn sweepers of this size, they common complaint is people wish it would hold more, but that’s also a trade-off you face with the push versus tow-behind and lower price points.

Most complaints about the Precision Products 26-Inch Push Lawn Sweeper was with the company and not the performance of the product. Complaints were that the company did not respond to emails or that the product arrived damaged, missing parts, or parts that were supposed to be attached upon arrival and weren’t.
Based on what we’ve seen however, I would give this product a try. The simplicity of design makes it attractive and overall a good deal for the price. Most felt the product lived up to what it was advertised to do and felt it saved them valuable time. Not to mention the back!

Again, as with most lawn sweepers, this product works best when used soon after the lawn has been mowed. Which sometimes seems like it defeats the purpose but if you mow a lot and can keep most leaves off the lawn asap, these work nice.

Best Quailities: Low price, we found for around $112, simply design
Bad Qualities: Company response to support issues, low hamper capacity (again, an understood trade off)

The main consensus on this Lawn Sweeper is that it’s cheap. But hey, you get what you pay for right? Most users found this product adequate for their needs but wished they had something with a bigger hamper capacity. The Yardwise 25" Lawn Sweeper has a 30 gallon capacity which fills up quickly for most jobs. This is a push model which means it's manually pushed by the user.

As with most Lawn Sweepers, this model does require some assembly but most people seem to think its not a hard chore. One reoccurring comment was the amount of plastic on the product except for the metal handles.

The Yardwise 25" gained great reviews on the storing ability. It folds down and is easily stored with small spaces. Also featured is the height adjustment which allows the user to dial it in for optimal height.

Most felt the item was exactly what they were looking for after purchase. Even though it was all plastic but felt it would hold up well for many years if stored properly. Although some reviews seemed to notice it did not pick up all the leaves (but we're not sure how many of these lawn sweepers really do pick up everything!, come on, it's a lawn not your living room). With that said, even if it picks up "most" of the leaves it still beats raking them all. And heck, just mow the rest of them along with the grass. The majority of users feel the product works for the intended purpose. As with most lawn sweepers, it takes a while to learn how to get the settings (height) adjustments set just right. Too low and it's too hard to push, too high and it's not going to pick up anything.

Best qualities: Low Price, we found it for $99, Ease of Assembly, easy to use, very lightweight.
Bad qualities: Plastic construction, low hamper capacity.
